NORWALK - The National Transportation Safety Board's (NTSB) proposal yesterday to ban all drivers from using electronic devices while driving is falling on deaf ears in Connecticut.

The NTSB says that banning cell phone use, even hands-free devices, would reduce accidents and make driving safer.

Drivers, however, say the proposal goes too far and that drivers will talk and text, and there should at least be a legal way to do it.

Gov. Dannel Malloy (D-Conn.) agrees, saying that hands-free devices are sufficiently safe and should not be banned.

The NTSB admits that it lacks the power to enforce the proposal and it would be up to the states to pass the legislation.
