NORWALK - Connecticut Lottery officials say the Keno lottery game could rake in as much as $70 million over the next year.

Officials say Connecticut residents are playing Keno at twice the rate they expected, making about $12 million in its first two months. They had initially expected the game to make about $17 million in its first six months.

The Connecticut Lottery Corporation says it's pleased with Keno's performance and is confident the game will do even better next year.

Bob Vietro is a gambling addiction counselor at Positive Directions in Westport. He warns that the convenience of Keno is what can make it easy for someone to develop an addiction.

Keno is sort of a mix between bingo and lottery in which numbers are drawn every four minutes. There are nearly 3,000 places in Connecticut where Keno can be played.
