CT police warn shoppers of Internet, credit card scams

FAIRFIELD - Police across southwestern Connecticut are urging consumers to be cautious of Internet and credit card scams during the holiday shopping season. Police say the number of people using illegal skimming devices to steal money and credit card information is on the rise, and that shoppers should keep a watchful eye on their personal belongings. "You know, with advancement in technology, a lot of danger also comes out of that because the bad guys are using that technology," says Lt. Jim Perez, of the Fairfield Police Department. "They're actually bumping into people just to get their credit card numbers." Local store owners also say they will be extra vigilant in the coming weeks.
