NORWALK - Connecticut residents are trying their luck this weekend, gulping up tickets for Saturday's $310 million Powerball drawing. Lottery officials say the last time a Powerball jackpot exceeded $300 million was in 2007 and that the current total is the fourth largest in the game's history. Edward Deak, an economics professor at Fairfield University, says the recent decision to boost ticket prices to $2 increased the jackpot. He says usual lotto players may not spend the extra dollar, but that new players will be enticed by the chance for record-breaking winnings.
