HARTFORD - Gov. Dannel Malloy has declared a state of emergency as Connecticut seeks help from Washington with a shortage of road salt.

Gov. Malloy says he has requested additional salt from FEMA.

The governor says Connecticut's entire fleet of 632 plow trucks and 200 contractor trucks will continue clearing  the roads today.

State employees designated as non-essential were told to report to work one hour later this morning.
