HARTFORD - (AP) - Connecticut officials are suingCVS/Pharmacy Inc., alleging it has sold food and over-the-countermedications past their expiration dates at many of its Connecticutstores.
Attorney General Richard Blumenthal and Consumer ProtectionCommissioner Jerry Farrell Jr. say investigators found expiredcough and allergy medicines, dairy products, baby formula, andother products at 20 stores in the summers of 2008 and 2009.
The lawsuit in Hartford Superior Court seeks unspecifiedfinancial penalties under state consumer protection laws.
Joanne Dwyer, a spokeswoman for Woonsocket, R.I.-based CVS, saysit has clear policies about removing expired products from itsstores. She said "unintentional deviations" are quickly rectifiedwhen they are discovered.
