HARTFORD - Connecticut voters headed to the polls Tuesday to cast their ballots in several primary races throughout the region.Eighteen primaries for the state Legislature were held, including 14 for the House of Representatives and four for the Senate.One of the biggest races was the 4th Congressional District primary to decide which Democrat will face Rep. Chris Shays for his seat in Congress. Winner Jim Himes celebrated with family and friends after defeating opponent Lee Whitnum. Himes said he hopes to restore economic opportunity and refocus on American families if elected in November.In Bridgeport, Anthony Musto defeated Marilyn Moore for the right to face Republican Rob Russo in the 22nd District in November.Incumbent Andres Ayala beat opponent Lydia Martinez in the 128th District.In the 130th District, Ezequiel Santiago claimed victory over Chico Rivera and Sylvester Salcedo. Bridgeport absentee ballots have yet to be counted.
