DANBURY - A Danbury pilot was called on to help passengers after a plane's pilot died mid-flight over Florida.

Dan Favio, an air traffic controller at Southwest Florida International Airport, called Kari Sorenson Sunday afternoon and told him he needed someone to help a passenger land the plane. Favio says he knew Sorenson had more than 20 years of flying experience and was familiar with the twin-engine Beechcraft 200 plane.Sorenson spoke with one of the passengers, Doug White, aboard the plane that made a safe landing at Southwest Florida International Airport. There is no word on the cause of the pilot's death.Sorenson says it was easy to work with White because he had previous experience flying a plane.
