DARIEN - Darien High School has been ranked the top high school in Connecticut by U.S. News and World Report.

The magazine says it looked at how the school's students performed compared with the state-wide average.

That comparison also factored in the percentage of economically disadvantaged students in the school and how those economically disadvantaged students performed in comparison with others in the state.

Finally, the magazine looked at college readiness.

U.S. World and News found that all the Darien students were proficient in reading, 98 percent were proficient in math, and almost 60 percent were ready for college by the end of their four years.

Weston, Ridgefield, Wilton and Staples High School in Westport all were also in the top 10.

While Darien ranked number one in Connecticut, it placed 217th in the entire nation.
