Darien makes changes to school security

DARIEN - Some security changes are going into effect today at Darien public schools.

All visitors will be required to check in at the school's front office where someone will now scan their photo ID.

The new system will cross-check that photo with the national sex offender registry.

Each person will then receive a temporary visitor's pass. The badges are valid for 24 hours and must be returned to the front office before leaving the school.

Workers and regular volunteers will be given permanent badges.
