DARIEN - A police chase that stretched from Stamford to Darien put a police officer in the hospital this afternoon.

Stamford police say they were pursuing a stolen car when Darien officers came to assist. Officials say that is when Lt. Thomas Krois' vehicle was hit head on.

Police say Angel Vega, 36, was behind the wheel of the car that hit the officer.

Vega was not hurt in the crash and is facing charges in both Stamford and Darien.

Officials say Krois is in stable condition with a leg injury.
