STAMFORD - David Martin has been elected mayor of Stamford.

The Democrat replaces Republican Mike Pavia, who chose not to run for re-election. Martin narrowly edged Republican Mike Fedele.

Martin had previously lost a bid for the mayor's office four years ago.

Martin won despite former Gov. Jodi Rell and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie putting their support behind Fedele during the campaign.
