BRIDGEPORT - Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch (D) and Action for Bridgeport Community Development reached an agreement Monday on several properties facing foreclosure because of back taxes.

The properties include the historic homes on Main Street known as Little Liberia, which advocates say are the oldest standing houses built by African-Americans in the state. Finch says the agreement will pave the way to rehabilitating and preserving the homes.

The ABCD day care center was also set for foreclosure, but the organization has agreed to pay $35,000 in back taxes to keep the facility open.
