Death penalty hearing today in Hartford

HARTFORD - Lawmakers in Hartford will be considering a proposal today that would abolish the death penalty.

The state judiciary committee will hold a public hearing on a bill that would replace capital punishment with life in prison without the possibility of release.

Gov. Dannel Malloy has said he opposes the death penalty.
