HAMDEN - A new poll finds that people in Connecticut support the death penalty in the highest rate in over a decade.

The Quinnipiac University poll found about 65% of state residents favor the death penalty.

The same poll, however, found nearly 3/4 of the population is in favor of the death penalty for recently convicted killer Steven Hayes.

In a previous poll two years ago, only 61% of state residents said they supported the death penalty.
