STAMFORD - Republicans vying for their party's nomination to run against Gov. Dannel Malloy in November met for a debate in Stamford Wednesday.

News 12 Connecticut's Tom Appleby moderated the debate at the Sheraton.

The candidates included Senate Minority Leader John McKinney, of Fairfield, businessman Joe Visconti, of West Hartford, Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton, Shelton Mayor Mark Lauretti and attorney Martha Dean, of Avon.

Tom Foley of Greenwich, who narrowly lost to Malloy in 2010, did not participate in the debate.
