Debicella will face Himes in November

Debicella defeated former Bridgeport Republican Party chairman Rick Torres and Rob Merkle, a business recruiter who won a spot on the primary ballot with the help of the district's tea party activists.

Debicella is the son of a policeman and says he was the first in his family to be able to attend college full-time. He already has the support of the National Republican Congressional Committee, which named him one of the party's "Young Guns," challengers the party believes have a chance to defeat incumbent Democrats.
