MILFORD - Two Milford men who caught a sand tiger shark in the Long Island Sound last weekend heard from the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) this week.

The DEP says that federal law requires anglers to release any sharks immediately back into the water.

Steve Thomas and Nick Vicino say they didn't realize they were breaking the law when they brought the 4-foot shark home.

A spokesman for the DEP says officers interviewed the men, but charges will not be filed.
