Despite heavy rain, Milford avoids severe flooding

MILFORD - Authorities in Milford say they are relieved that heavy flooding did not occur despite the heavy rains that fell on the town today.

The big worry was that the runoff from today's storm would mix with the remaining snow on the ground and cause flooding. Luckily, Milford was spared.

The area's wetlands are now heavily saturated from the weather, but fresh water saturation is important to maintaining the ecosystem, authorities tell News 12 Connecticut.
