FAIRFIELD - Defense attorneys representing convicted murderer Christopher DiMeo called his childhood psychologist to the stand today in an effort to spare him from the death penalty.

DiMeo was found guilty last month in the murders of Fairfield jewelry store owners Tim and Kim Donnelly.

During today's hearing, the psychologist said DiMeo was addicted to drugs from a very young age and high on heroin the night he killed the victims.

The witness also said that DiMeo was breast-fed milk tainted by drugs from his drug-addicted mother, leading to his own drug habit.
