DiMeo trial resumes in Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT - The trial for the man accused of killing two Fairfield jewelers in 2005 resumed today.

Christopher DiMeo is charged in the deaths of Tim and Kim Donnelly.

Today, three New York jewelers took the stand. All three identified DiMeo from other jewelry store robberies around the same time as the Fairfield murders, robberies for which DiMeo has already been convicted.

Among those who took the stand was the mother-in-law of the man DiMeo killed in a jewelry store robbery in Glen Head, New York in December of 2004. Barbara Caggiano told the jury DiMeo had come to the store looking to buy an engagement ring and while her son-in-law Thomas Renison was showing him some diamonds, he pulled out a gun.

DiMeo's girlfriend Nicole Pearce was also convicted in that robbery and murder. Pearce was recently diagnosed with terminal cancer and is currently hospitalized. However, prosecutors say she will still testify, possibly by video, if she's not healthy enough to travel.
