BRIDGEPORT - Doctors are warning that being too cold while indoors or outdoors can lead to serious cold-related illnesses as the weekend is expected to be bitterly cold for southwestern Connecticut residents.
They say that exposure to extreme frigid temperatures can lead to illnesses such as hypothermia and frostbite.
News 12 Connecticut meteorologists predict temperatures will only reach the teens during the day this weekend and may drop as low as 0-15 degrees at night.
Officials advise those going outdoors to dress for the weather. They also say to be sure to check on elderly and ill neighbors.
