Doctors warn against dry skin in cold weather

DARIEN - The cold, dry air has resulted in many residents complaining about itchy skin and cracked finger tips.

One southwestern Connecticut doctor has some tips to help prevent dry skin in the cold weather.

"You want something with peptides and proteins in your moisturizer and UV protection 15-30," Dr. Jennifer Jose, of Ultimate Solutions Medical Spa, says.

Dr. Jose adds that using topical ointments or lotions with antioxidants like vitamins C and E will help the skin absorb moisture.
