WASHINGTON D.C. - Senate Republicans have dropped plans to prevent discussion of a financial reform bill proposed by Connecticut Senator Chris Dodd.

The Senate will now take up the debate and make any necessary amendments.

Senate officials expect it could take up to two weeks to agree on changes.
