NORWALK - The owner of a 1-year-old pit bull who lost its leg from being shot says his dog saved his life after someone opened fire at a wedding reception in Norwalk last week.

Dan Fitzgerald says his dog Karma was shot twice Thursday evening while chasing down a man who had just shot him and another person.

Fitzgerald says his neighbors were having a wedding reception in their backyard when a man in a hooded sweatshirt showed up and began firing into the crowd.

Fitzgerald says he's now struggling to pay his dog's $4,000 medical bill, and that the hospital has set up "The Karma Fund" to help pay for the expenses.

Investigators say the gunman got away and they are still investigating.
