DARIEN - A Hartford woman has been charged in connection with a crash on I-95 involving a tractor-trailer that killed two people and left four others injured this morning.
Police say at around 6:10 a.m., a car with four people tried to pass a tractor-trailer in the right lane, but the driver lost control and slammed into the other vehicle, causing it to overturn and burst into flames just before exit 10.
Police have not yet released the names of the victims, but say they were both in the tractor-trailer. The four people who sustained injuries were taken to an area hospital.
Yadira Torres, 26, the driver of the car that collided with the truck, has been charged with two counts of second-degree manslaughter. Police say she was under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the crash.
Torres is expected to be in court Monday.
The northbound side of I-95 remained closed for hours as police investigated the accident.
