NORWALK - Police say the driver responsible for a manhunt in Norwalk following a hit-and-run today remains at large.

Officials say the suspect crashed into a taxi cab near the intersection of Fairfield Avenue and Garner Street around 3 p.m. this afternoon.

State police say they tried to stop the Dodge Charger on I-95 in Norwalk for a traffic violation, but the driver took off. They say they did not chase him because of weather and traffic conditions, but are wondering why he was so intent on getting away.

The driver was later involved in a crash in Norwalk.

Resident Barbara West says the same car nearly hit her, just moments before she watched it crash into the taxi.

State police say the driver is a male, about 6 feet tall and 200 pounds.

Anyone with information is asked to contact state police Troop G at 203-696-2500.
