STAMFORD - The driver accused of going on a driving rampage in Stamford last month appeared in court today.

Chris Simonelli, 30, was arraigned in connection with the Nov. 16 crash. He was arrested this morning at Stamford Hospital where he has been since the crash. He is still in a wheelchair suffering from two broken legs.

Police say they believe Simonelli was on drugs when he stole a box truck from his job and smashed into signs, parking meters and 14 vehicles, including a school bus with 23 students inside. A total of 22 people were hurt.

The judge increased Simonelli?s bond from $100,000 to $150,000, reminding the court that while the incident was bad, it could have been much worse.
