Driver nearly plows into Southport home

SOUTHPORT - A Fairfield man plowed his car onto the front yard of a Southport home and fled early this morning only to have the homeowner go after him, police say.

Police say the 20-year-old driver crashed through the Saviano family?s fence, nearly hitting the home at around 2 a.m.

William Saviano says he then went outside to check on the driver when the man behind the wheel pulled away. Saviano says he got in his truck and tried to follow him.

Police say they later found the driver with blood on his face and arms. His car was in a ravine.

Authorities are looking into what caused the driver to crash.
