STAMFORD - Stamford police arrested four people in three separate incidents this weekend, seizing a large quantity of heroin.

Police say the arrests show how prevalent of a problem heroin has become. They say many drug dealers buy their supply from New York and then drive or take a train to sell the drugs in Stamford at higher prices.

Authorities have seen the number of heroin-related arrests increase over the past few years.

Police say the four people arrested - Angel Henriquez, Candace Sarro, Eudy Taveras, and Christina Verrico - carried 316 packets of heroin in total. Priced at $20 for each packet, the drugs were altogether worth about $8,000.

Police add that heroin isn't just a problem in Stamford but all over the New England region as well.
