WILTON - Brush fire concerns are on the rise as rain clouds appear nowhere in sight.
In Wilton, rangers at the Weir Farm National Historic Site say they're taking extra precautions, especially since the region has received barely any precipitation over the past two weeks. Backpacks equipped with water canisters are ready to go if necessary.
"You take in the beauty of this spring, but you're just very much aware that it hasn't rained," says site Superintendent Linda Cook.
Rangers add that residents should avoid doing anything on their properties that may involve a flame. They also advise people to clear out loose brush and leaves.
