BRIDGEPORT - A section of Bridgeport was without electricity Saturday after a dump truck took off for a job with power lines in tow.
Officials say the driver was leaving Industrial Wrecking on Island Brook Avenue at around 8 a.m. The truck became tangled in power lines and took down a utility pole as it drove away.
According to officials at the United Illuminating Company, as many as 182 customers were affected by the outage. Workers spent nearly seven hours repairing the damage before power could be restored.
The truck driver and a passenger were not injured in the incident.
