NORWALK - After an early nor'easter hit Connecticut, tens of thousands are reportedly without power across the state.

Gov. Dannel Malloy said in a news conference today that those without power should not expect power restoration efforts to begin in earnest until sometime Sunday. He said crews would be focusing on downed live wires first.

Snow from the storm also caused transportation issues across the area. The governor ordered the Merritt and Wilbur Cross parkways closed to all except emergency vehicles.

As of 10 p.m. the Metro-North Railroad has suspensions on a number of branches due to slick rails and downed trees. Officials could not give a timeline on the resumption of service on the suspended lines.
