East Shore M.S. evacuated due to snow on roof

MILFORD - School officials say 600 students were evacuated from East Shore Middle School today over concerns about snow and ice buildup on the roof of the building.

Officials say they discovered cracks in the building this morning and didn't want to take any chances. The students were taken to nearby Foran High School, where they completed their school day.

Crews spent the remainder of the day shoveling snow off the school's roof. A structural engineer has also been brought in to evaluate the building.

Parents say they are pleased with the administration's decision not to take any chances.
