FAIRFIELD - A group attempting to block construction of a softball field in Fairfield has failed.

Voters rejected a plan to spend $350,000 on the field, a plan that was already approved by the Representative Town Meeting.

However, voter turnout was only about 10 percent. A 25 percent turnout is required to overturn the decisions of the RTM.
