BRIDGEPORT - A Bridgeport police officer who accidentally shot himself in the leg in a restaurant has reportedly filed his retirement papers.

Juan Santiago shot himself in the leg last December while handling a gun inside at the Bagel King on Main Street.

Investigators say it was not his service weapon.

He is charged with unlawful discharge of a firearm and scheduled to be in court again tomorrow.
