HARTFORD - Communities across southwestern Connecticut are preparing in case Earl strikes.

Currently forecasts call for Earl to mostly miss us on Friday. However, emergency crews are standing by just in case.

Gov. Jodi Rell held a conference call with mayors and first selectmen across the state yesterday to discuss hurricane preparedness.

Milford Mayor Jim Richetelli says his city is watching the storm and will be ready if needed.
