NORWALK - A former Norwalk police officer has agreed to a plea deal in connection to charges that he had sex with underage boys.
Thomas Cummings agreed to serve 30 days in jail, followed by three years of probation in the case. He was originally charged with multiple counts of sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor. However, he pleaded guilty to three lesser charges.
Cummings entered his plea under the Alfred Doctrine, meaning he did not admit guilt. He had been charged with having sex with two teens and luring a third to his condo.
The state?s attorney says he was ready to take the case to trial, but several late developments made that difficult.
Cummings will be sentenced Sept. 3.
