Ex-Rep. Shays seeking GOP nod for U.S. Senate seat

Former Rep. Christopher Shays (R-Conn.) is attempting a political comeback as he announced today he is seeking the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate seat

STRATFORD - Former Rep. Christopher Shays (R-Conn.) is attempting a political comeback as he announced today he is seeking the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.)

Shays claims just like some voters, he is surprised he is back after losing his congressional seat in 2008. He says, ?You can't see what's happening in our country and know you have the capability to make a difference and just sit on the sideline.?

According to Shays, he will win the Republican nomination for Senate based on his record and experience, overcoming recent poll numbers that favor former World Wrestling Entertainment CEO Linda McMahon two-to-one among Republican voters.
