Expert: Southwestern CT vulnerable to cyber-terrorism

WESTPORT - A cyber-espionage expert says he believes southwestern Connecticut is especially vulnerable to the threat of cyber-terrorism. Bernie Pasierb, of Westport, is a West Point graduate and the former commander of a U.S. nuclear missile site. He has spent a lifetime assessing threats to the nation, and he now tracks and battles cyber-espionage for the global credit card industry. Pasierb says that because it is so close to New York City, the southwestern part of Connecticut is the epicenter of some of the biggest cyber-targets in the nation, including power, transportation and financial systems. He says a major cyber-attack in the region could cripple the whole nation. Meanwhile, Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) is pushing Congress to continue to work on the bipartisan Cyber-Security Bill, designed to combat such threats.
