FAIRFIELD - A political analyst at Sacred Heart University says there are important lessons to be learned from Massachusetts Republican Scott Brown's U.S. Senate victory as we move toward the November election to replace Chris Dodd.

Gary Rose, head of Sacred Heart's political science department, says voters often look to neighboring states to gauge what issues they should be thinking about.

With polls showing Democratic Attorney General Richard Blumenthal as the favorite in the race, Rose says Blumenthal needs to avoid recent Democratic mistakes of taking for granted that voters would turn out for them.
