Experts: Don't forget to clear snow off roof

NORWALK - As southwestern Connecticut residents try to navigate the mounds of snow piled on streets and sidewalks, experts are reminding homeowners to clear snow off their roofs.

Structural engineer Nick Cuoco says over time, snow buildup can cause your roof to spring a leak or collapse.

Cuoco says the heavy snow caused a structural beam to crack at the Star Center for adults with developmental disabilities in Norwalk and forced an evacuation this morning.

Experts say if you have more than a foot of snow on your roof, you should have it cleared by a professional.
