DARIEN - Cleanup and restoration companies across southwestern Connecticut are urging homeowners who experienced flooding during recent storms to be vigilant of mold.
John Pelli, of SERVPRO, says mold frequently grows under flooring and baseboards and can often be out of sight. Pelli recommends residents completely dry out areas affected by flooding and keep temperatures around 60 degrees to prevent mold.
Experts say moisture that gathers under sump floors can't be easily removed without tearing up the floor. Other types of flooring, like wood or carpet, can be more easily dried out.
