Eyewitness helps nab suspected Stamford thief

STAMFORD - Stamford police say an eyewitness helped them catch a brazen thief who stole electronics from a car Saturday.

According to authorities, the witness saw 39-year-old William Scott break into the car outside 17 Irving Ave. and wrote down the license plate number and a description of the vehicle, which led an officer right to the suspect. Police were able to arrest the alleged thief near exit 7 on I-95.

Lt. Nick Mantagnese says a conscientious police officer pinpointed the suspect based solely on the eyewitness' description.

Scott, of White Plains, is being held on $50,000 bond.
