FAIRFIELD - Fairfield County officials announced Wednesday that some town beaches will be open for swimming for a longer period of time this summer.

Five of the six town beaches in the county will have lifeguards working over Labor Day weekend, according to officials.

Beach officials told News 12 they sometimes do not have enough lifeguards to surveil the beaches during holidays, but this year they are properly staffed.

South Pine Creek Beach will not be opened on Labor Day weekend.
