FAIRFIELD - Fairfield celebrated Memorial Day today with a community parade to honor the armed forces.

Thousands of people were in attendance at the parade, complete with marching bands, dignitaries in cars, local veterans' groups and police officers.

The local Rotary Club was busy during the parade, collecting canned goods and non-perishable food for homeless veterans.

Many residents said that the annual tribute is very meaningful to the community.
