FAIRFIELD - Fairfield residents ran out for snowblowers Saturday after getting slammed with more than 2-and-a-half feet of snow Friday night.

The heavy snow was good news for hardware stores trying to get rid of winter inventory before the spring.
 
Other neighbors concentrated on getting the snow off walkways and roofs before it freezes.

Connecticut is still experienceing high wind, with gusts reaching about 45 mph.
