Fairfield fire officials: Fiery accident on I-95 traps driver in car

Officials say they were able to put the car's blaze out quickly and rescue the driver. (3/30/14)

FAIRFIELD - Fairfield fire officials say a fiery accident on northbound I-95 today left a driver trapped in her car and stuck under a tractor-trailer.

Firefighters say the crash happened near exit 22 at around 6:30 a.m.

Officials say they were able to put the car's blaze out quickly and rescue the driver.

They say it took 24 emergency responders and a heavy-duty wrecker to extricate the woman, and lift the trailer off of her car.
