FAIRFIELD - Two cats are down a life after firefighters pulled them from a house fire today.

Fairfield firefighters responded to 9-20 Fairfield Woods Rd. where they found a house on fire that was filled with pets, many recently rescued from the local animal shelter.

Firefighters were able to save the cats, Dexter and Oreo, but not without the help of special oxygen masks.

The cats are expected to fully recover and firefighters say the cause of the blaze appears to be accidental.
