FAIRFIELD - Fairfield police are asking the public to help them solve nearly 40 car and home burglaries over the past month.

Police say they believe the robberies are connected because most of them have happened in the area of Collingwood Avenue in Fairfield. They say they think thieves are going up and down the streets looking for unlocked cars and homes.

One victim says it appears those responsible opened every compartment of her car and took valuable items. In some cases, the suspects took cars apart, stripping them of headlights and tires, according to police.

Police urge anyone with information to call them at 203-254-4800.
